Staples Security Potentially Breached
If you've recently shopped at Staples stores in the Northeast, you might want to check your credit and debit card statements. Several banks have noticed patterns of credit and debit card fraud pointing to a data breach at a number of Staples stores.
Fraudulent card usage has been detected at a number of grocery stores, big box stores and the like, suggesting that cash registers in parts of New York, Pennsylvania and New Jersey have been victims of malware created to steal and use customers' credit card information.
A spokesman for Staples has said Staples is aware of the situation and is currently investigating.
