Roger Goodell isn't Dead
On Tuesday the National Football League released a statement through their Twitter account announcing that league commissioner Roger Goodell had died. Fortunately for Goodell, but not for the NFL, it turns out that their Twitter account had been taken over by a group of hackers who were able to send out that tweet among others before being locked out.
According to a statement given by the hacker group known as the Peggle Crew, they were able to get into the email of a social media employee and found the password there. The hacker was able to provide screenshots of Twitter analytics and direct messages from inside the NFL’s account as proof.
Twitter has suspended the account of one the group’s members, but before it did he told a follower that the NFL’s password was “olsen3culvercam88”. This is not the first high profile hack by the Peggle Crew this year. In February, they were able to take over the account of ex-Beatle Ringo Starr.
