Equifax Website Serving Malware

Some (but not all) visitors to the Equifax website were being redirected to a website with a malware warning that prompted them to download and install Adware.Eorezo via a program called MediaDownloaderIron.exe, which is labeled as malware by a number of antivirus providers. Initial fears were that Equifax had been hacked again, but Equifax released a statement claiming that the issue was that the code came from a third-party data tracking company they use. Equifax also said the code had been removed and the page was taken down to make sure it was clean. If nothing else, the moral of this story is that you need to make sure you know exactly what any vendors or third-party service providers are doing for you. Another moral would be to be extra careful about any further scandals when your company's name is already currently mud.
